2019 was not an easy year for the German wind sector, and it will be similar in 2020
As a result of considerable social opposition and bureaucracy, 2019 was not easy for the German wind sector, since the development of wind sources was the lowest in the entire 21st century, what in turn, led to the bankruptcies of industrial giants and thus the reduction of thousands of jobs. The new 2020 year does not seem to be prosperous either. The government is facing a difficult decision regarding wind energy – to force the expansion of wind farms and thus expose to public criticism, or to assume that the current nearly 30,000 wind turbine is sufficient number. In addition, despite the fact that the coal commission agreed on the decarbonisation concept, the assumptions regarding lignite are not continued. It promises to be that the discussion around coal will continue this year.
