Energy transition in regions dependent on fossil fuels may lead to a reduction in the number of jobs

Professor Mark Jacobson from Stanford University has noted that New Green Deal politicians and lobbyists do not actually have a detailed plan for its implementation. In this regard, university researchers have analyzed the possibility of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 in individual countries of the world through achieving the 100% share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix.According to their estimates, global transformation is a cost of 73 trillion dollars, which could be paid back in the following years, as the costs of energy production and demand for it is to decrease.In addition, the transformation would provide net 28.6 million new jobs – with the exception for countries and regions dependent on fossil fuels – like in Poland, where the net number of jobs could drop significantly. In order to ensure that the transformation does not lead to the impoverishment of society, it is extremely important that mining regions receive adequate financial assistance for its neutral for the society.
